Daytime Viewing

Duration: 1-1.5 hrs.
Earthside Astronomy begins with a presentation relevant to fields of study with which participants are currently engaged.

These can be specialised to cater for your requirements.

Example lectures include:

  • The Sun’s Life-cycle
  • The Solar System
  • Constellations of the Sky
  • Celestial Bodies / Wonders of the Night Sky

Lectures are performed using a Laptop, Projector and pull up screen, all we ask for is power.

To finish off the day Solar Viewing of the Sun will be made available for students and teachers through our Coronado Solarmax 60 Hydrogen Alpha Telescope.

Night Time Viewing

Duration: 1.5 – 2hrs.

Earthside Astronomy Night Time Viewing begins with a presentation describing the objects in the night sky. Lecture is designed to provide a brief overview of objects which may be viewed through the telescopes during the night.

Lectures are performed using a Laptop, Projector and pull up screen, all we ask for is power.

Lecture is catered for the audience. Younger audiences have a much more interactive presentation, while older audiences have a greater science and fact based presentation.

Following the presentation a laser pointer tour is performed showing the constellations of the night sky and any planets visible on the night.

Our telescopes finish the night by allowing you to observe stunning celestial objects in the night sky.

Example Objects Include:

  • Planets: Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn
  • Globular Clusters
  • Open Clusters
  • Binary Star Systems
  • Red Giant Stars
  • Nebula
  • Galaxies

*Note: In the event of overcast skies, cancellations can be made by contacting Earthside Astronomy by 12pm on the day of the event. Or you may choose to proceed with a cloudy night presentation and telescope usage lesson at a lesser rate.
